Hong Kong man arrested for replacing colleague’s breastmilk with fresh variety
Mother alerted police after her breastmilk disappeared from fridge in office in Wu Chung House, Wanchai
A man was arrested for allegedly replacing two bottles of breast milk belonging to a working mother with fresh milk in their office.
Police said on Monday that officers arrested a 42-year-old man surnamed Yiu in an office in Wu Chung House in Wan Chai a week ago.
“A 26-year-old woman reported to us on Monday last week that someone had allegedly stolen two bottles of breast milk from the refrigerater,” a police spokeswoman said. “The man was arrested for theft on the same day and will appear in Eastern Court on July 21.”
The case first came to light on Saturday when the Hong Kong Breastfeeding Mothers’ Association posted details of the case on Facebook after the woman reported it to police.
The association reminded all breastfeeding mothers to be cautious in storing breast milk. It also urged the government to protect the rights of breastfeeding mothers at work places and in public areas.
