Mainland woman indecently assaulted and robbed by three men in Hong Kong hotel room

No suspects nabbed, but victim arrested for overstaying

A female student from the mainland was ordered to strip naked before being indecently assaulted and robbed in her hotel room in Tsuen Wan late on Sunday.

Police were searching for three suspects last night, and had arrested the woman for overstaying her entry permit.

The woman, 23, told officers she saw one of the three men, thought to be aged between 20 and 30, acting suspiciously outside her room at the Silka Far East Hotel, on the Tsuen Wan section of Castle Peak Road, shortly before 11pm.

The man rang the doorbell but she ignored it and he left, according to police.

When the doorbell rang again later, she answered it. Two Cantonese-speaking men, posing as cleaners, rushed into her room, according to a police source.

“She was ordered to take off her clothes as the pair threatened to assault her. One of them molested her after she undressed,” he said.

Police said the two men left after the woman gave them HK$2,300. She then called police at 11.05pm.

According to police, the victim was not beaten and no weapon was used in the incident.

Officers mounted a search, but arrested no one.

It is understood the woman, from Hubei province, had checked in at the hotel earlier that day.

She told officers she was a student and had entered the city from Shenzhen through an immigration control point on Tuesday last week, according to the source.

The victim was later arrested for overstaying, after investigations showed her two-way entry permit had expired.

Officers investigating the indecent assault and robbery were viewing security camera footage for evidence.
