Four people, including a child, had to go to hospital on Monday, after inhaling smoke in a fire that broke out in a Hong Kong block of flats.

Six others complained of feeling sick.

Four fire engines headed to the scene after firefighters got a report of the blaze, which broke out in a second-floor flat on Kim Shin Lane, Cheung Sha Wan, at about 2.05pm.

A police spokeswoman said the four who needed hospital treatment included three adults and one child. They were taken by ambulance to the nearby Caritas Medical Centre.

Firefighters doused the flames at about 2.20pm.
