Back from Romania, Financial Secretary John Tsang Chun-wah said yesterday he was proud of the Hong Kong football team's 0-0 draw in a World Cup qualifier against China on Tuesday.
"The Hong Kong team played an excellent match - we should be proud of them," he said. He did not reply when asked if Chief Executive Leung Chun-ying should have expressed support.
Leung claimed he could not watch the match as he was at a meeting in Manila. Chief Secretary Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor said she supported Hong Kong in "a wonderful game".
But Tsang posted a photo of himself watching the match on a computer in Bucharest. The caption read: "Exciting match!"
