Lawyer: India rape verdict to be given Aug. 5

NEW DELHI (AP) — An Indian juvenile court has delayed delivering its verdict until Aug. 5 in a fatal gang rape of a young woman last December.

Defense lawyer Rajesh Tiwari told reporters outside the court Thursday that the verdict was delayed because of a Supreme Court case seeking to change the legal definition of a juvenile.

The court had said it would deliver its verdict Thursday. It was to have been the first verdict in the attack.
