British graffiti artist Banksy has unveiled a video in which he depicts the Disney flying elephant character Dumbo being shot down in a rocket attack.

Video: Banksy's 'rebel attack' on a drone Dumbo

The secretive artist posted the video on his blog as part of his “artist’s residency on the streets of New York”, called Better Out Than In, which he is undertaking this month.

In the video titled Rebel rocket attack a group of seemingly Islamist fighters fire a rocket-propelled grenade into the sky, bringing the popular cartoon elephant crashing down to the ground. While they celebrate the hit with cries of “Allahu Akbar!” (“God is great”), a small child, distraught at the incident, runs up to one of the fighters and kicks his shin, causing him to double over in pain.

Banksy posted the video along with the message: “I’m not posting any pictures today. Not after this shocking footage has emerged…”

The artist is attempting to create a new work of art each day in October on the streets of New York, with fans trawling through postings on Facebook and Instagram to find the exact locations of the pieces.
