Toronto Mayor Rob Ford diagnosed with tumour
Abdominal pain forces the Toronto mayor, notorious for smoking crack, to seek treatment which may threaten his bid for re-election

Rob Ford, the crack-smoking mayor of Toronto, has been admitted to hospital with a large tumour in his abdomen, throwing his re-election campaign into doubt.
Dr Rueben Devlin from Toronto's Humber Regional Hospital said Ford had been complaining of abdominal pains.
"Examination and investigation today revealed that he has a tumour," Devlin said at a news conference on Wednesday. "It's not a small tumour [but] the size is not as relevant as what it is."
He said Ford had been suffering from stomach pains for at least three months and they had worsened in the last 24 hours.
"It became unbearable for him," he said.
Ford, 45, acknowledged smoking crack cocaine while in a "drunken stupor" following months of denials. The mayor returned to work in June after a rehab stint for drug and alcohol abuse and is running for re-election on October 27.
