Forget the ‘Love Boat’, this 690-person cruise is all about sex

Operators are implementing some expected house rules: keep the noise level to a minimum after midnight, staff members are off-limits, and “no” means “no”

Travellers who find their cruise vacations are lacking the sort of je ne sais quoi that only some naked co-mingling and erotic playrooms can provide are in for an aphrodisiacal treat.

Call it the literal (make) love boat, if you will.

Mexican adult hospitality firm Original Group has chartered the Azamara Quest for the sex-themed experience in fall 2017 for an eight-day voyage from Italy to Croatia and Slovenia dubbed the “Desire” cruise.

Miami-based Royal Caribbean Cruises’ luxury line, Azamara Club Cruises, owns the 690-passenger, newly renovated Azamara Quest.

During the sailing, the ship will be transformed with performances, couples workshops, themed nights and “intense icebreakers” designed for motion in the ocean. Open-mindedness is encouraged on the couples-only voyage, whether that be at the “mix-n-mingle” private playrooms or at the clothing-optional areas of the ship, such as the pool deck.

The chartered retreat is the first of its kind from the Original Group, which owns three adult-only resorts in Riviera Maya and Cancun.

“We’re thrilled to bring to the sea our more than 30 years of experience in creating the perfect sensual atmosphere for adults, and we have no doubt that the Desire Cruise experience will be life-changing for our passengers and will become the sensual way to get away,” said Rodrigo de la Pena, CEO of Original Group.

Azamara declined to comment.

The eight-day erotic party won’t be a full free-for-all. Operators are implementing some expected house rules: Keep the noise level to a minimum after midnight. Staff members are off-limits. “No” means “no”.

They’ve also included some more specific regulations among the handful of rules: “Our playrooms have been designed for sexual and erotic pleasure. We ask that you use these couples-only areas to fulfill your intimate desires.”

With a temporary promotion, cruises start at $2,883 and can go up to $10,996 per person. The inaugural sailing is from September 26, 2017, to October 3, 2017. Another voyage will sail from Rome in 2018.
