Cats Me Ouch! MacDonnell Road

Yes. It's called "eyeliner". You should try it. It's like a pencil that draws a line of make-up to create the cat eye look, and you can get it in a variety of colours! Just incredible. Joking aside, coloured cat eye make-up, especially in blue tones, is very spring-summer 2013 (see Dior, Michael Kors, Ohne Titel and Giorgio Armani runways). I believe you're talking about an all-in-one liquid liner. Make Up For Ever's waterproof, fragrance-free Aqua Liner offers the widest colour range I've seen (HK$230; LAB Concept, Queensway Plaza, Admiralty, tel: 2111 9895). Mac does similar for less but not in quite as many colours (HK$165; LAB Concept, tel: 3106 0478). Luxury brand By Terry does a fabulous pen version called Ligne Blackstar Intense Liquid Eyeliner, in five colours including a great teal (HK$395; Joyce Beauty, Lane Crawford, IFC Mall, Central, tel: 3572 0364). Similarly, the new Nars Eyeliner Stylo pen comes in various shades (HK$270; Pacific Place, Admiralty, tel: 2918 9886). Or go for the bargain Majolica Majorca Perfect Automatic Liner in navy blue (HK$98; Sasa, Customer Hotline: 2505 5023).

Perfect Pants, Tsim Sha Tsui

Ooh, I love this trend too! It always makes me smile, at least, as it gives the wearer the appearance of an escaped convict/circus clown. Seriously, most women would need a stylist (and a trainer) to make the current crop of black and white striped trousers look chic. If you're going to do it, remember to keep everything else understated or you'll end up looking a real mess. As ever, the safe approach is to test it out with a high-street interpretation, such as Zara's pleated printed stripe trousers (HK$599; Gateway Arcade, Harbour City, Tsim Sha Tsui, tel: 2629 1858). Sportmax has a more subdued approach with slim-cut cigarette trousers in panels of stripe and solid black (HK$3,580; Ocean Centre, Harbour City, tel: 2736 8605). Casual jeans in a thinner stripe work well, too, such as Tory Burch's stretchy Marlien (HK$2,180; Ocean Centre, tel: 3755 4042); or Juicy Couture's striped jeans with a carnation motif (HK$1,790; Ocean Centre, tel: 2118 8236). One of my favourite pieces from this season's black and white trend is the Marc Jacobs tunic with a scalloped hem (HK$13,900; Gateway Arcade, tel: 2118 6511).
