Fragrant harbour The more refined gentleman will be aware that his suits should always come tailored from Savile Row, his shirts and shoes from Jermyn Street and his grooming needs looked after by Penhaligon's of Covent Garden. Alas, London might be a touch too far for many Hong Kong gents. Luckily, however, Savile Row, Jermyn Street - and now Penhaligon's - have come to us. Check out the Harbour City pop-up store (a pungent prelude to a standalone store in IFC Mall), where you can find such wondrous scents as the woody and masculine Sartorial (HK$1,310 for 100ml) and the more poetic, spicy and leathery Endymion (also HK$1,310 for 100ml). Penhaligon's is in Gateway Arcade, Harbour City, Tsim Sha Tsui, tel: 2111 4174.

Converse opinion We’re not often moved by advertising here at The goods – you could say we’ve become a bit spin wary. However, there’s always the odd campaign that grabs us and we’ll admit the Converse “shoes are boring, wear sneakers” one softened our jaded hearts a little, particularly as the sneakers themselves are so cool. We love the Jack Purcell leather hi-top (above left; HK$799) and the navy blue leather take on the classic Jack Purcell lo-top (above right; HK$549). Damn you Converse and your clever marketing! Converse is at 67 Fa Yuen Street, Mong Kok, tel: 2388 8382.
