Police are looking for two robbers who hijacked a truck and made off with HK$15.5 million worth of electronic components after threatening its driver with axes in the New Territories on Monday night.

The hold-up happened when the 50-year-old driver, surnamed Chan, pulled over at an oil-filling station in Lok Ma Chau at about 7pm on Monday.

A man wearing a cap boarded the truck and forced the truck driver to drive to Yuen Long, according to police.

When they reached the junction of San Tin Highway and Fairview Boulevard in Yuen Long, another man boarded the vehicle.

“The robbers threatened the driver with axes before blindfolding and tying him up,” a police spokeswoman said.
