Peyton Manning continued his electric start to the NFL season by throwing four touchdown passes as the Denver Broncos moved to 4-0 with a 52-20 crushing of the Philadelphia Eagles.

Manning completed 28 of 34 passes for 327 yards and no interceptions and his work was so effective that he was able to sit out the fourth quarter as the Broncos enjoyed another blowout win.

The quarterback's 16 touchdowns in the first four games of the season are a league record for the period since the merger of the AFL and NFL in 1970.

"I enjoyed it. We were playing a good team and felt really motivated to score points - touchdowns and not field goals - and we did that," Manning said.

Demaryius Thomas and Wes Welker had two touchdown receptions each, while Trindon Holliday scored with a 105-yard kick-off return.

Not for the first time this season, Denver ran away with the game in the third quarter with Manning throwing three touchdowns in that period. They have scored 62 points in the third term this season.
