Paparazzi (IIA): Mel Gibson  produces and  Hollywood hairstylist Paul Abascal  directs this thriller about a rising action star (Cole Hauser)  hounded by a band of photographers. He seeks vengeance after his family are hurt in a car accident. Not reviewed.

If Only (IIA): Jennifer Love Hewitt  stars as a musician who dies in a car accident. Paul Nicholls  plays her guilt-ridden boyfriend who has the chance to relive the day,  and try to stop the events leading up to her death. Not reviewed.

Innocent Steps (Korean) (IIA): Moon Geun-young   stars in this  arranged-marriage romance as a Chinese village girl who marries a dancer (Park Gun-hyung) in Seoul. An soppy tearjerker. LKW

Dragon Squad (Cantonese) (IIB): Daniel Lee Yan-kong  directs this police action thriller about a team of Interpol agents hunting down international terrorists. Also stars Sammo Hung Kam-bo,  Shawn Yue Man-lok and Vanness Wu Jianhao.  Not reviewed.

Rahtree: Flower of the Night (Thai) (IIB): A college girl commits suicide in her  flat in an old building after becoming pregnant and then being dumped by her boyfriend. She then turns into a vengeful ghost.  Not reviewed.

Mobile Suit Z Gundam - Heirs of the Star (Japanese) (I): The first part of a trilogy based on the original television series Z Gundam created in 1985. New scenes have been blended with the old TV footage for this  Japanese animation series.  Not reviewed.

General Releases

All About Love (Cantonese) (IIA): Andy Lau Tak-wah takes on two roles - a civic-minded doctor and a self-centred hairdresser - and both characters find their notions of love called into question. Charlie Young also stars. PF

Election (Cantonese) (III): Johnny To examines the power-plays within triad society as two men (Simon Yam Tat-wah and Tony Leung Ka-fai) fight for control of their gang. The violence gets a bit extreme for the first hour, but it is gripping stuff. MS

Doom (IIB): A band of marines is dispatched to Mars to search for missing scientists in a space station where zombies are running amok. Wrestler Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson  plays the troop leader and Rosamund Pike  an archaeologist. LKW

Goal! (IIA): Kuno Becker  tries hard as the Latino footballer plucked from obscurity and thrown into the heady world of the English Premier League. But you will sink under the weight of all those cliches. Still the scenes on the pitch are impressive. MS

Home Sweet Home (Cantonese) (IIB): Karena Lam  goes ugly as a creepy woman haunting an apartment block. Shu Qi  and Alex Fong  play the couple she wants to mess with. MS

The Legend of Zorro (IIA): Antonio Banderas  returns as Zorro, the 19th-century caped crusader, with Catherine Zeta-Jones  playing his  wife Elena. Together with their 10-year-old boy, the couple battle villains equipped with weapons of mass destruction. LKW

Nana (Japanese) (I): A sweet and heroic tale of two 20-year-old Japanese girls - one strong and independent and the other innocent and naive - overcoming the trials of love and life in Tokyo.  Directed by Kentaro Otani. LKW

Tim Burton's Corpse Bride (IIA): A bit of animated magic from director Tim Burton sees a young man (Johnny Depp) mistakenly marry a dead girl (Helena  Bonham Carter) and then he must find a way back into the land of the living. MS
