Wu gets no kick out of shoot to thrill
Taiwanese heart-throb Vanness Wu Jian-hao is disappointed he didn't get the chance to show off his newly acquired martial arts skills in Daniel Lee Yan-kong's Dragon Squad.
The action movie, co-starring Shawn Yue Man-lok, Simon Yam Tat-wah, Sammo Hung Kam-bo and Hollywood actor Michael Biehn, revolves around a war between police and a group of criminals.
'Before the shooting started, I told the director that I wanted to try more action scenes,' said Wu (left). 'However, this is a movie with loads of gun shots instead of fist-fighting.'
The singer-actor, who's a member of boy band F4, started studying martial arts after playing a boxer in Lee's Star Runner two years ago. 'I found [karate] very interesting,' said Wu. 'I also went to Shaolin to learn kung fu.'
His next project is another action movie, but after that Wu might branch out. 'I want to try different kinds of movies. As an actor, it's a challenge to play new roles.'
