Hong Kong Broadband Network (HKBN) chairman Ricky Wong Wai-kay may not support the licensing of WiMax technology firms but he cannot deny their right to exist.

'From a business point of view, I would not want WiMax, yet I cannot find a reason to object - the licence is ready, the technology is there,' Mr Wong said.

The ambivalence expressed by the high-profile chairman comes amid his admission that HKBN had seen a net loss in telephone lines since September after average gains of about 5,000 per month in the previous eight months.
