Local independent label Love Da Records strives to bring the latest electronic music from around the world to Hong Kong.
Its collective album, Xiang Gang Electric Vol One, is part of an effort to draw attention to the local electronica scene, which has been eclipsed by indie rock, alternative and hip-hop.
The artists, MCs, and DJs featured in the CD include 17-year-old Form Five student MC Hin, Rex, Tszpun, Vicent Quek (Q-Tipp), Butterwings, Beat Machines, Teoh and DJ Yin.
The 21 tracks are worth a listen if you want to explore the latest sounds of the city's electronica scene. Love Da Records deserves praise for promoting the artists and their music.
The label is organising the Xiang Gang Electric Song Competition. Winning entries will have the chance to be included in the album, Xiang Gang Electric Vol Two. To enter the contest, send an audio CD demo to 20/F, New Victory House, 93-103 Wing Lok Street, Sheung Wan, by January 31. Details and application forms are included in the Vol One album.
