IN FASHION, TIME CAN be either a friend or a foe. But when it comes to defining timeless style, finding a fine balance between consistency and change is crucial.
As the chief buyer and fashion consultant for Chanel, Claudia Shaw- d'Auriol?s exceptional taste has made her one of the Hong Kong?s most graceful style icons.
The mother of three children (Anna, Hugo and Thibault), Shaw-d'Auriol?s schedule epitomises the life of a modern woman. As part of Chanel?s marketing and buying team, she visits Paris more than six times a year and attends numerous meetings with designers and suppliers. Her free time is spent with family and friends and sailing.
?Style is about knowing what you feel comfortable in,? says Shaw-d?Auriol, who worked at prestigious fashion and jewellery houses, such as Cartier and Celine, prior to her arrival at Chanel 10 years ago. ?My style veers towards the classics and my personality is reflected in what I wear. I?m not the Boho type of woman and I don?t like layers. I prefer a simple and uncluttered look, although I do not like sterile aesthetics. My house also reflects my personality because it?s full of colour and combines modern and classic decor styles.?
A glance through Shaw-d?Auriol?s photo album is proof of this; her look has changed little over the years.
