Ku keeps the cork on lai see

Most people can't wait to find out how much lai see they've received. But not singer Leo Ku Kui-kei,

'I haven't opened any lucky money packets in the past 10 years,' said the 33-year-old. 'I've put them all in bottles.' He said he has accumulated more than 10 bottles. 'I don't plan on opening any. It's for good luck.'

Since he has never unsealed any lucky packets - even the envelopes from his manager Paco Wong Pak-ko - the singer has no idea how much money he's been given.

'If I open them years from now, it will take a long time to do it,' said Ku, who in the past few years has spent more than $10,000 on lucky money.

Ku said last year was a rewarding one for him, and a successful one career-wise. Tickets to his gigs last year at the Hong Kong Coliseum were snapped up in hours. He also released two albums - the Cantonese record Star Track and Putonghua disc Final Fantasy. Both were best-sellers.

'My schedule was packed over the past 12 months, but I've improved a lot in the past year,' he said.

With a workload that kept him busy around-the-clock, the singer conceded that his health had suffered.

'Because of my health problems, the progress and standard of my work was slightly affected,' he said. 'I'll make more time for rest this coming year, and will try to keep in shape.'

On top of singing, Ku (right with Cecilia Cheung Pak-chi) has also made a movie, My Kung Fu Sweetheart, with local comedy director Wong Jing.

The film also stars Cheung and Kung Fu Hustle actors Yuen Qiu and Yuen Wah. Ku plays the manager of a firm who becomes romantically involved with one of his employees, kung fu expert Phoebe (Cheung).

My Kung Fu Sweetheart opens on February 16
