electronic arts names president for online, Asia

Electronic Arts, the world's biggest video-games maker, has appointed Hubert Larenaudie president online, Asia, to be responsible for the company's online product, technology and distribution operations in the region, the company said.

veteran to promote bluetooth in region

The Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG), a global trade association promoting the development and adoption of Bluetooth wireless technology, has named Linda Ho Man Chong its marketing director for the Asia-Pacific and Japan.

Ms Ho, a 15-year marketing veteran in the information technology sector, will be based in Hong Kong from where she will seek to raise the region's awareness of Bluetooth, a short-range wireless standard for connecting users to a broad range of electronic devices. The installed base of Bluetooth devices was over 500 million products at the end of last year and is projected to surpass one billion by the end of this year. CTM taps ncr unit to revamp infrastructure

Companhia de Telecomunicacoes de Macau (CTM), the sole fixed-line network operator in the former Portuguese colony, has revamped its information infrastructure with an enterprise data warehouse system from Teradata, the business software unit of NCR Corp.

along mobile teams up with union mobile pay

Along Mobile Technologies, a Chinese publisher of mobile ring tones, games and other wireless entertainment products, has teamed up with a company backed by China Mobile to co-develop and sell a range of bank, debit and credit card-based payment products and services in the mainland.

The deal between Along Mobile and Union Mobile Pay will help China Mobile receive payments for phone bills and utility fees, recharge phone cards and earn income from items such as lottery and plane tickets. Financial terms were not disclosed.Bien Perez

intergraph software to be used in public safety

The China Public Safety Research Centre, a national professional research institute at Beijing's Tsinghua University, has partnered with United States-based software firm Intergraph.

Researchers at the centre will use Intergraph's spatial information management software to create applications for planning public safety readiness, managing response, and incident investigation.Bien Perez

altai wins US$10m funding

Wireless broadband solutions firm Altai Technologies said it had closed a US$10 million equity financing from venture capitalist funds Morningside Technologies and Wong's International (Holdings). Altai said it would use the new capital to fund expansion. Georgina Lee
