C Hong Kong Gold Coins

Hong Kong has had its own coins since 1863. Its first gold coins were issued in 1975. The first was a HK$1,000 coin issued for the visit of Queen Elizabeth II.

From 1976 to 1987, a series of HK$1,000 coins, each with a different design of the Chinese lunar calendar, was issued.
