Show of might on Victory Day, May 11

11 May 2015

Russia staged a massive parade to mark the 70th anniversary of victory over Nazi Germany. Thousands of troops marched across Red Square as Moscow rolled out its military might. Tanks rumbled through the streets, jets flew overhead and cutting-edge military equipment was showcased. President Xi Jinping was among two dozen world leaders who attended the parade. Later on Saturday 300,000 people walked through central Moscow holding portraits of relatives who fought in the second world war. Russian President Vladimir Putin joined the march, which was part of the Kremlin’s so called Immortal Regiment campaign.
