It's Robo-naldo fever at the Robot Soccer World Cup, July 30

Passions ran high among spectators and the players displayed nerves of steel as teams from 47 countries battled it out in the annual Robot Soccer World Cup, or RoboCup, in the eastern city of Hefei. Far away from the corruption scandal that has engulfed the human version of the beautiful game, the event showcased the latest in robot technology from schools, universities and professional developers, whose machines were required to be autonomous, or not controlled by humans, during play.
