Street of memories

2 Apr 2015

For 140 years, the wet market, eateries and shops of Graham Street and its surroundings have been at the heart of life in this part of Central. But now the city's oldest wet market is giving way to redevelopment. It will be replaced by a HK$3.8 billion project made up of housing, retail, offices and a hotel. Eleven fresh food shops will return but 34 other businesses will either move or close. South China Morning Post photographers K. Y. Cheng and Sam Tsang take a final look at many of those businesses including Tom Kim-chi's Sun King Kee Noodle, the Sweet Heart Fresh Fruit Shop, Chak Yu-cheung's Shanghai Kitchen and Tse Chun-fat's printing business.
