Maintenance workers keep Hong Kong's Ngong Ping 360 cable car system moving

15 Sep 2015

Ngong Ping 360 is one of the major tourist attractions in Hong Kong. It is a 5.7km cable car system linking Tung Chung with Ngong Ping and the Big Buddha on Lantau Island. Part of it runs over Tung Chung Bay - the longest single ropeway span over the sea in Asia. The system, which opened in 2006, attracted 1.83 million people last year - 82 per cent of them from other places, including the mainland. However, it is now closed until September 24 for scheduled maintenance. Our photographer MAY TSE spent a few days with maintenance workers to see how they handle their work.
