Strait talk

Saturday's meeting between the leaders of the mainland and Taiwan in Singapore will be an historic moment in cross-strait relations. It will be the first time such a meeting has taken place since Chiang Kai-shek's Kuomingtang lost the Chinese civil war and fled to the island in 1949. But while the leaders have never met, there have been many meetings between officials from both sides. Photographers from the Post, Xinhua, AP, ChinaFotoPress, CAN, AFP and Reuters document some of these meetings and visits.
