30 Apr 2014

The aftermath in Arkansas and Mississippi of a series of tornadoes, part of a storm system that battered more than half a dozen US states for three days. The tornadoes flattened homes and businesses, killing at least 35 and forcing frightened residents to take cover, and leaving tens of thousands in the dark on Tuesday. Meteorologists said the storm system had weakened substantially by evening, although some tornado watches and warnings were still in effect for isolated areas.
