Robot evolution, June 22

Advances in technology means that humanoid robots are now making a name for themselves around the world. And they are increasingly become more lifelike. Among them are Yangyang (above) appearing at a conference in Beijing and Han (below) developed by Hong Kong-based Hanson Robotics. Showing off their skills (left) are robots teaching a university class, playing the clarinet and modelling a wedding dress. Hollywood is also getting in on the act. Actor Antonio Banderas (right) embraces a co-star while promoting a film. By the way, in the top picture, the robot is on the left. Photos: Reuters
