A leap of faith - Base jumper Denis Odintsov plunges to earth from the 300-metre-tall open deck of the Kuala Lumpur Tower in the Malaysian capital. The Russian jumper was taking part in the 2013 International Tower Jump, which spans four days’ competition and also includes three nights of jumping, watched by spectators from the top of the landmark. Some 103 professional base jumpers from 20 countries are taking part in the high-profile annual event for the extreme sport. Photo: AFP

The Hong Kong Promotion of Young Artists Foundation's International Children Painting Competition does just that. The competition attracted 11,543 entries from 52 countries.
