Remembering Bapu - Indian school children dressed as Mahatma Gandhi take part in an event in a school in Bhopal, India, on the eve of Gandhi Jayanthi, or the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, which is celebrated as a national holiday across the country. Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, also known as Bapu or “Father of the Nation”, was born on October 2, 1869 in Porbunder Gujrat, India, making this year the 144th birth anniversary. In 2007 the United Nations declared October 2 as International Day of Non-Violence in acknowledgement of the revered Indian leader. Photo: EPA
