Nga Tsin Wai Village: Kowloon's last remaining walled village, December 4

4 Dec 2013

Nga Tsin Wai village, also known as Hing Yau Yu, is the only walled village left in urban Hong Kong with a history of about 400 years. Unlike the walled villages in the New Territories, surrounded by a confining wall, the houses of Nga Tsin Wai form a boundary around the village. Since the government announced its plans to redevelop Nga Tsin Wai village in 2007, several houses in the village have been dismantled and people have gradually moved away.
