Heal the lepers: World Leprosy Day 2014 January 27

27 Jan 2014

“He shall remain unclean as long as he has the disease. He is unclean. He shall live alone.” (Leviticus 13:46) The stigma against lepers mentioned in the Bible endures today. But an event called World Leprosy Day 2014, organised by The Leprosy Mission each year on the last Sunday of January, wants to change this mindset. The mission advocates that leprosy is a mildly infectious disease, but it is treatable. Here we see the daily lives of lepers at a hospice in Yangon, Myanmar. All photos from Reuters
