Just a few blocks from the White House in Washington DC new business incubator 1776 is busy connecting business start-ups with resources. Over 150 start-ups in various industries have gathered together in the 15,000-square-foot venue, which is a global hub providing holistic business support including mentorship, corporate connections, access to capital and media attention. 1776 has received over US$300,000 in grants to support its activities and Washington DC Mayor Vincent Gray cited it as a cornerstone of an economic development strategy to develop the city into “the largest technology centre on the East Coast”.
