Days of Taiwan protest over China trade pact, March 24

24 Mar 2014

Starting from March 18, hundreds of thousands of Taiwanese demonstrators occupied Taiwanese parliament in protest against a controversial trade pact with mainland China, signed in June by representatives from Taipei and Beijing, which would open dozens of service sector industries in both Taiwan and Beijing, according to reports. Amid the continuous tensions between the government and students occupying two major government buildings, Taiwan’s police evicted dozens of protesters from the cabinet building on March 24 morning.
