Fighting back, May 10

10 May 2014

Gruesome attacks outside train stations on the mainland have struck fear into travellers and put police on alert around the country. Anti-terror squads have been holding drills to reassure the public they will be prepared if alleged ethnic Uygur “terrorists” strike again. In the latest attack, six people were wounded in a knife attack at a train station in Guangzhou this week. In the worst incident, five attackers with knives and machetes killed 29 people and injured about 130 in the south-western city Kunming. Photos: Reuters, SCMP Pictures
