Justice on the move, June 2

2 Jun 2014

They come on horseback, by boat, even on foot, bringing justice to remote villages. Rongshui county, in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, for instance, has four grass-root courts. One of them, Sirong court, has three employees: one stays in the office while two are on the move, setting up open courts in different villages to settle disputes. Sirong court covers five townships and for Huang and Wuyou, a “day in the office” simply involves unfurling a court banner and a national emblem and getting down to the business at hand. Photographers at China Foto Press, Imaginechina and CNS captured village justice at work.
