Mass arrests as police clear sit-in protesters on July 2

2 Jul 2014

In the early hours of Wednesday morning protesters staged a sit-in on Chater Road and near the chief executive's office in Admiralty, calling for greater democracy and a genuine choice between candidates in the 2017 chief executive election. Police surrounded the peaceful sit-in on Chater Road with barriers and rows of officers. At 8am the about 50 remaining protesters ended the sit-in, after police had forcibly cleared many. Those arrested were taken to the Police College in Aberdeen.
