'Supermoon' dazzles around the world, August 11

11 Aug 2014

A "supermoon" or perigee full moon lit up skies across the globe this Sunday night. It was the second and largest moon this summer, appearing 30 per cent brighter and 14 per cent bigger than normal as it came within 221,765 miles of earth. In this gallery we have collected some stunning images of the lunar marvel as captured by AP, AFP, EPA and Reuters photographers. Missed the supermoon this time? One more will appear on September 9 this year.
