Tianjin warehouse explosion 2015

The apocalypse

21 Aug 2015

The explosions that rocked the port city of Tianjin was one of the mainland's worst industrial accidents. The terrifying blasts that lit up the night sky more than a week ago left 183 people either dead or missing. The greatest toll was among the firefighters, with 104 of them either dead or missing. Almost 650 people are still in hospital and an estimated 30,000 people have had their lives turned upside down, including some with huge damage to their homes. And all this comes amid the fear of the fallout from the chemicals stored at the site. The Post's K.Y. Cheng and photographers from AFP, Reuters, EPA, Xinhua and AP document the disaster.
