The big deluge: Heavy rains cause flooding in Myanmar, Vietnam, India and Pakistan

4 Aug 2015

It's been another bad summer for floods in the region. These have afflicted parts of Myanmar, Vietnam, India and Pakistan. The heaviest death toll - exceeding 80 - has been reported in Pakistan, while dozens have died or are missing in the other three countries as a result of monsoon rains or cyclones. Tens of thousands have also been displaced. Four western regions in Myanmar have been declared disaster zones and the death toll there is expected to rise. One week of torrential rain in northeast Vietnam has caused major damage. Photographers from Reuters, AFP, AP, EPA and Xinhua recorded images of the floods and the way residents have coped.
