Head boy forever, June 16

16 Jun 2015

Hong Kong’s football community is mourning the death of Wu Kwok-hung, aged 66 – arguably the city’s best-ever player who lit up a dynamic domestic scene in the 1970s and early 1980s. Wu died at Eastern Hospital early yesterday morning after a battle with throat cancer. Nicknamed “Big Head Boy”, in his heyday Wu helped then heavyweight side Seiko to nine First Division championships, including a record seven in a row from 1979 to 1985, as well as many other domestic titles. He also captained the Hong Kong side, leading the city to two major wins in the World Cup Asian zone qualifiers.
