Now hear this Sony has added the NWZ-S540 series (pictured, top) to its Walkman MP3 player family. The player comes with software that allows the easy transfer of music, films and photos from Microsoft's Windows Explorer and Apple's iTunes to the Walkman. The device has a 2.4-inch display, an FM radio and top-notch sound quality from its external speakers, thanks to Sony's Digital Linear Phase Speaker System. The maker claims battery life of up to 42 hours of music playback and 6 1/2 hours of video playback. The NWZ-S540 is priced at HK$1,098 for the eight-gigabyte version and HK$1,348 for the 16GB model.
Birthday present Swedish camera maker Hasselblad, which is owned by Hong Kong-based Shriro Group, has released its first China-themed collectible model, the Limited Gold Edition 503CW (left), to mark the country's 60th anniversary. The medium-format camera is typically used for professional studio and location photography. Only 61 units of the commemorative model have been made. All visible chromed body details are plated in 18-carat gold and it has an elegant burgundy leatherette trim. Each bears a gold plate engraved with the Hasselblad logo and the inscription, "60 Years Anniversary of the People's Republic of China - 1949-2009".
Buyers are given the option of having Hasselblad's "V System" symbol replaced with their name. The Limited Gold Edition 503CW with Carl Zeiss Distagon lens costs HK$158,000. Shops selling the camera include Skyphoto and L&H in Causeway Bay, Man Shing in Mong Kok and Shogun in Tsim Sha Tsui.
G whiz CSL has teamed up with Samsung Electronics to offer a social network-ready smartphone geared for the speedy Next G mobile broadband service. The Anycall Preston S5600H (right) has programs that directly link with the likes of Facebook, MySpace, Picasa, YouTube and Flickr. Photos can be uploaded through the "Communities" function. The phone also has a multitouch 2.8-inch display, a 3.2-megapixel camera with flash, a music player and 45 megabytes of storage, which can be expanded with a memory card.
