Kill some time with a band in their prime

"Finally, a band at the height of their career." That's what a colleague said when we mentioned we had just heard that American rockers The Killers are coming to Hong Kong.

Imminent big concert headliners Green Day, Mika and Korean superstar Rain (with concerts on November 28 and 29) might object to our friend's opinion but, indeed, the Las Vegas quartet (pictured) is riding on unprecedented popularity after their third release, Day & Age, early this year. The platinum-selling band, led by prickly singer Brandon Flowers, also scored a hit with the single Human. They'll be playing at the AsiaWorld-Arena for one night only, Friday January 29, at 8pm. Tickets are HK$450 to HK$750 and go on sale next Thursday though HK Ticketing outlets.

Putting up less of an argument is over-the-hill perennial visitor Air Supply. The soppy, sappy duo will be back for a Never Ending Love Concert - plus a Christmas celebration - on December 19 at the Convention and Exhibition Centre's Hall 5BC. Tickets are from HK$280 to HK$480 and, no, my colleague likely won't be buying any for this one.
