1.
Human Nature - Michael Jackson
It's funny, you would think when you listen to this song that it could have been produced in 2009. The sounds sound straight-up synthetic. But Quincy Jones and Mike were so far ahead of the game. It is an absolute pop dream song.
2. I Would Die for You - Prince
When I hear this song I wish that I was around at the time it was released, at the club, kickin' it, listening to this bang on the big speakers. It makes me happy, like nothing matters.
3. In Your Eyes - Peter Gabriel
I went through a really rough time in my life when I was in a relationship. This song hit me with a bittersweet joy. As a writer, you know [Peter] is one of the best in the world.
4. Street Love (off the eponymous album) - Lloyd
Lloyd defied all the typical success formulas. I love the rugged yet smooth and classic R&B sound POLOW and Lloyd delivered.
5. Can't Tell Me Nothing - Kanye West
I really wasn't on the Kanye bandwagon until I heard this song. I love rap. But I love smarter rappers even better. He offers intellect and conception that makes the brain think.
