Hopax, Taiwan’s leading manufacturer of papermaking chemicals and a global producer of specialised fine chemicals and self-adhesives, is bolstering its four production bases in mainland China, Taiwan and Indonesia. It expects to benefit from Taiwan’s assertive efforts to entice foreign companies to invest in these sites. With Taiwan’s chemical industry estimated at US$130 billion, Hopax upholds the Taiwanese economic track by showcasing its unparallelled 40-year experience coupled with its honest and caring nature to invite partnerships with foreign chemical companies. It seeks investments and research and business cooperations via integration and consolidation to remain competitive in Asia and beyond.

“We are looking for partners that possess the expertise, environmental mindset, and the desire to expand geographically or broaden their product portfolio,” says Dr Alex Kuo, president. “As an innovator, we do not only accept our partners’ technology; we are also capable of improving on or creating new technologies.”

Potential partners can also benefit from the company’s four chemical factories, including an expandable six-hectare production base in Changshu, China, and sales channels that span across Asia, the Americas and Europe. More than 60 scientists of diverse backgrounds are dedicated to research and development and back its innovation centre. A well-trained customer service team supports the company’s operations.

“We built a broad range of expertise in-house, then we focused on integrating the various specialisations to get high output and efficiencies,” Kuo says. “New ideas are easy to come by because of the integration.”

Hopax collaborates with universities, research institutes and technological players to transform its ideas into practical solutions that help shape better products for people. Some of its ingenious offerings include pharmaceutical and biological buffers, paper coating chemicals, lithium battery additives, and the Stick’n repositionable self-adhesive notes, among others.

“We constantly pursue science not just to innovate, but to share goodness, beauty and truth to humanity,” Kuo says.
