BDT - which stands for "Best in Development and Technology" - is a one-stop-shop supplier of data storage systems and paper handling devices for original equipment manufacturers. It holds 75 per cent market share in storage automation and is a market leader for B2 format feeders, with a growing digital printing business. BDT counts IBM, Hewlett-Packard, Dell and Fujitsu among its esteemed clients.

"We are the innovators' innovator, the technology behind the brands," Rath says. "We draw strength from the expertise of our global and high-professional supply chain and operations." Rottweil-based BDT is reputed for its German engineering and worldwide sourcing capability. The company considers Mexico and China as its important sourcing markets.

Among BDT's products for original equipment manufacturers are the FlexStor II tape libraries, which feature encryption capabilities for increased security, automated backup of data and a web-based remote management utility.

BDT created a stir with its Tornado Technology for print media handling, which uses the patented whirlwind effect to move, separate or transport various substrates without requiring manual configurations. Banking on the unlimited possibilities of this ground-breaking technology, BDT is set to launch its own brand of printer by the end of next year.

Seeking double-digit margins, BDT looks to expand its product range into the flourishing markets of health care and cloud storage services. With Singapore as its hub in Asia, BDT is seeking regional growth through partnerships with local companies in bringing storage and archiving solutions, focusing on China, India and Japan.
