Designing a modern classic

The Dumont was designed by David Walker Architects to be the striking centerpiece of the new Albert Embankment Plaza, a tranquil oasis in the beating heart of Central London.

Designed to complement the neighbouring Corniche and Merano Residences, the Dumont has its own distinctive style. Architect David Walker explains that the property's prestigious location was both a challenge and an inspiration.

"The challenge for architects is to create buildings that live up to that river frontage," he says. "Buildings along the Thames are very visible, which sets the bar high in terms of design."

For the Dumont, this meant orienting the building to give residents the best possible views of iconic London sights, such as the Palace of Westminster, the Houses of Parliament and the London Eye, while also creating a new local landmark in its own right.

"You can’t define a classic building, or set out to make one, but you know a classic when you see it," Walker adds.

Heart of the city

The bars, restaurants and theatres of the South Bank are within walking distance of the Dumont. Central London's other cultural and culinary highlights aren't much further by car or the Tube.

It is a mere seven minutes' walk from the luxury apartments to Vauxhall Underground Station on the Victoria Line. From there, it’s another four minutes to Victoria train station, 25 minutes to the commercial hub of Canary Wharf and less than an hour to Heathrow Airport.

Two new Northern Line stations – Nine Elms Lane and Battersea – will also be up and running by the time the Dumont welcomes its first residents in 2020.

Luxurious living

The Dumont development will feature 168 private luxury apartments, made up of studios, penthouses and one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments.

As well as enjoying a full range of modern amenities in every unit, Dumont residents can also make use of the building's exclusive facilities. These include an infinity pool, spa and gym, cinema and bowling alley, private lounges and dining rooms, roof terraces, underground parking and a 24-hour concierge.

The restaurants, offices and landscaped mini-parks of the Albert Embankment Plaza are also practically on the doorstep.
