A contemporary and nostalgic symbol of New York, the city Coach has always called home, was brought to life in the form of a full-sized recreation of a subway car festooned with rose gold graffiti. Inside the car, special imagery of the Fall 2017 fashion campaign set fittingly in a New York subway car and gunmetal handrails mirroring the hardware on Coach handbags make for a completely customised experience. Among the first to board the Coach express at the opening cocktail reception on July 26 were Laurinda Ho, Yumiko Cheng, Josie Ho, Kathy Chow, Gaile Lok, Juno Mak, Wyman Wong and Elva Ni.
They browsed a selection of the key runway styles from the Pre Fall and Fall 2017 collections for women and men from the wildly popular shearling jackets and pretty floral print skirts to athleisure track pants and embellished t-shirts. As they need to be complemented with the latest ‘it’ bags, guests made a beeline for the fan-favourite Dinky, the iconic Turnlock Saddle, the carryall Kisslock Satchel and the polished Rogue Tote. They come in a wide array of globally exclusive hues, including the very Coach colours of warm tans, rich browns and pale yellows. Sparking considerable interest are feminine tulip and lilac, and bright reds and greens inspired by the vintage athletic tracksuits offered only at the pop-up shop in Lane Crawford.
Selections complete, it’s onwards to the Coach craftsman for a unique customisation service. Some opted to add Coach’s signature leather Tea Roses to their Dinkys while others had their bags, wallets or accessories personalised with a monogram or exclusive Coach stamp.
The Coach Art of Expression interactive pop-up shop at Lane Crawford ifc mall operates till August 22, while the same immersive New York City experience can be had at the Lane Crawford Shanghai Times Square from August 5 to 22. Coach fans should seize the day and check out these cool installations in Hong Kong and Shanghai.
