The thrill and fun of the Cathay Pacific/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens are by no means confined to the Hong Kong Stadium. This exciting international tournament takes partying and fan engagement to the next level with an expanded weeklong line-up of entertainment and family-friendly community activities around the city.

From Monday to Sunday, April 3 to 9, Chater Garden will be the ground zero of rugby festivities as the “HKSEVENS Central Party” engages all participants.

This “Mini Hong Kong Stadium” will let everyone experience the rugby fun in its purpose-built pitch, rugby skills games and competitions. Also get ready to party with the present and retired rugby greats and give support to your favourite participating teams at the many autograph sessions ahead of kick-off. The “Seven in the City” viewing party will bring live actions in the Stadium to Central Party via real-time streaming accompanied with live commentaries. Festivities continue at three pop-up restaurants serving re-interpreted classic rugby fare, under the direction of celebrity chefs and amidst the funky beats from the line-up of nightly live music. Meanwhile a series of community rugby activities will take place at Central Party, including demonstrations of Deaf Rugby and Inclusive Rugby for Special Needs Students.

Holders of HSBC credit cards and passengers of Cathay Pacific or Cathay Dragon will enjoy additional privileges.

Over the Sevens Weekend (Friday April 7 to Sunday April 9) Lee Garden One on Hysan Avenue will be transformed into the Cathay Pacific/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens FanWalk from which rugby-themed family-friendly carnival activities will spill into the surrounding streets. Under the Sevens’ theme “Where the World Comes to Play”, the party at Lee Garden One will feature all-day line-up of live performances, circus acts, booths serving authentic delicacies from rugby-loving countries, and live streaming of matches on giant screens. HKSEVENS Rugby Ambassadors, who are top players of the sport, will drop by to share the fun with fans. Around the neighbourhood, Cathay Pacific and HSBC will engage the public with rugby-themed activation booths.

From April 7 to 9, the world will be captivated by the Hong Kong Sevens, which has simply got bigger and better. This year the event will remain the largest men’s tournament of the World Series with 28 teams in 70 matches across the weekend. Meanwhile, for the first time, the semi-finals of the Women’s Sevens Series Qualifier will also be played at the Hong Kong Stadium alongside the Cup Final, which has been played in the venue since 1998, for a total of 73 matches on the three days. Twelve teams from the six World Rugby regions will take part in the World Rugby Women’s Sevens Series Qualifier on Thursday April 6 and Friday April 7, at So Kon Po, across from the Stadium.

Come to join the many community engagement activities to experience why the Hong Kong Sevens is one of the world’s greatest international sport events and soak in the rugby spirit in the weeklong celebration across the Island.
