I take great pleasure in writing to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the re-establishment of Lingnan University in Hong Kong.
Lingnan has a fine tradition of nurturing students to become socially responsible individuals capable of making significant contribution to our society. Its long history and track record of providing quality whole-person education is most impressive.
The unique liberal arts curriculum offered by Lingnan has always been held in high regard in the region. By promoting broad-based learning and diversified campus life, the institution strives to help students acquire the knowledge and perspective essential to braving the challenges that the 21st century may hold for them.
Lingnan’s success is due in no small measure to the visionary leadership of the governing council, distinguished management and hard work of its outstanding staff, students and graduates. I trust that they will, as always, give their best in taking forward Lingnan’s mission in different capacities.
On this memorable occasion, I would like to compliment Lingnanians for their remarkable accomplishments, particularly their great and collective efforts in elevating the status of the university. I hope that this illustrious institution will continue to thrive and develop in the many years to come.
