Steve Wynn

The casino developer's company, Wynn Macau, got the green light to acquire a 20.6 hectare site in the Cotai district of Macau, where Wynn will build its second resort in the world's most lucrative gambling enclave. Trading in Wynn Macau stock was suspended in Hong Kong last week, after the shares rose 28 per cent this year in Hong Kong, outpacing the Hang Seng Index's benchmark 14 per cent increase.

Steven Cheung

The Hong Kong-born radio presenter was chosen from among 29,000 applicants to carry the Olympic torch through London when the Games open there in July. Cheung, a presenter on the multi-ethnic, London-based Spectrum Radio, grew up in Fanling and moved to Britain when he was 12. The half-Chinese and half-Filipino Olympic ambassador worked with politicians on youth issues both at a local level and nationally as an adviser to former British prime minister Gordon Brown's Youth Citizen Commission.

Conrad Black

The media mogul was released from a US prison after serving time for fraud and obstruction of justice, but that will not close the book on the saga of his spectacular fall from grace. A political firestorm has engulfed Ottawa since news emerged that Black - who renounced his Canadian citizenship to become a British lord - will be allowed to return home to Canada. The 67-year-old launched libel lawsuits in Canada to strike back at the detractors he blames for destroying his once vast empire.
